Oyo PDP Spokesman Fingers Folarin, Skimeh As Brain Behind Billboards’ Removal, Calls on Oyo CP For Their Prosecutions
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has raised an alarm over what it referred to as ‘deliberate provocation of the ruling party’ by All Progressives Congress (APC), the state’s main opposition party.
Engr Akeem Olatunji, Oyo state PDP Publicity Secretary in a press release sent to journalists from his Ibadan base stated that Oyo APC is responsible for the removal of his party’s billboard at Owode/Akesan road in front of Oyo Central Mosque, Oyo.
Engr Olatunji specifically mentioned the APC Governorship candidate,, Senator Teslim Folarin and Hon. Akeem Adeyemi popularly known as Skimeh as the brain behind the illegality.
The PDP Spokesperson maintained that the ruling party had secured the billboard’s space for a period of six months beginning from 27th of October and will only lapse on 27th of April, 2023.
Olatunji stated that Edge Plus Media, an advertising agency in charge of the said billboard, has confirmed through his representative that they have reported the matter at Durbar Police Station, Oyo.
The PDP Public Secretary has now called on Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Williams, to immediately wade into the matter before the matter snowballed into a big blown political violence.
Warning the opposition party not to mistake his party members’ peaceful conducts and civility as weakness on their part, Engr. Olatunji stated that the members of his party are law abiding just as Engr. Seyi Makinde the State’s governor and PDP overall leader in Oyo State is.
“We are very much aware of the grand plan of Oyo state chapter of the APC to not only instigate unwarranted violence to further advance its campaign of calumny and political blackmail against PDP led government, we are also fully aware of their plan to provoke PDP into retaliation of their heinous acts with a view to causing mayhem as we are approaching 2023 general elections.
“Senator Teslim Folarin and Honourable Akeem Adeyemi popularly known as Skimeh are the brain behind this illegality and
should be prosecuted in other to serve as a deterrence to others.
“As a political party, we know exactly what to do in the face of such provocations but we won’t allow them to actualize their grand plan which is to cause mayhems having realised that their governorship campaign is dead on arrival.
“Every single person who resides in Oyo state within the last three and half years or those who have visited Oyo state intermittently can attest to the unprecedented transformation Oyo state has experienced under the leadership of Governor Makinde.
“We are aware that having realized that it is impossible for them to campaign against Governor Seyi Makinde based on his sterling performance since assumption of office, the fact of which has even been acknowledged by some of their APC governors who have visited Oyo state, they have now concluded in their camps that the only viable option they have is to resort to campaign of calumny and political blackmail.
“While we await the outcome of the complaint lodged by Edge Plus Media at Durbar Police Station, Oyo and ultimately Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Williams‘ report on the brazen show of lawlessness capable of creating public disturbance by people expected to protect law and orders; We therefore, warn these agents of destabilization to desist forthwith from the path of political perdition.
In addition, we call upon the Oyo State Commissioner of Police to immediately order the arrest and prosecution of Senator Folarin and Hon Akeem Adeyemi as this is the same allegation leveled against Alh Mukaila Auxiliary, though without any verifiable fact, but through which he is being charged to court.
“We want to make it abundantly clear that APC in Oyo state and its agents of violence as led by Senator Folarin must desist from the path it is presently towin if truly the opposition party and its guber candidate have no ulterior motive of throwing the state into turmoil with a view to enabling it succeeds in its fictitious, wicked, and demonic campaign against the mandate the good people of Oyo state had given Engr.
